Summary: To recognize an individual in the Vail School District who has risen above all odds to the occasion.
Presentation: Vail Pride Day
Background: The challenges facing young people today are unprecedented. There are many ways our youth are adapting to a world of consuming demands, monumental changes, in growing up, and ultimately persevering through times of crisis.
Objective: The Resilience Award will recognize the ways that a standout individual adapted and positively changed reality across a spectrum. This award is presented to a person of great character who despite stressful and overwhelming difficulties made a concerted effort to overcome obstacles, persevered, and delivered a means to shine ever-so-brightly amongst adversity and circumstances for the benefit of their family, school, and community.
Whom may apply: Any student of the Vail School District may submit an application to receive this award.
- Be a high school senior in the Vail School District that plans to attend an accredited two- or four-year college or university or trade school
- Fill out a scholarship award application
- Submit at least two letters of recommendation, one of which must be from a Vail School District staff member
Selection: A selection committee reviews all scholarship applications and forwards recommendations to the VSDF Board which determines which student(s) receive a scholarship.
